Professor Satish Rastogi is working as a Professor & Co-ordinator (Research & Evaluation), Institute of Distance Education , University of Swaziland( Southern Africa).
He was born on 15th October 1950 at Sitapur city of Uttar Pradesh in India and is having ‘Indian’ Nationality by birth. He has done Master of Science (Mathematics)in 1974 from Agra University, Agra, (India), and, Master of Education in 1975 from Garhwal University, Srinagar, Uttaranchal (India).He was conferred the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Education in 1983 by the University of Gauhati, Assam (India).
Also, he has done Master of Arts in Distance Education in 1995 from Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi (India),and, a Diploma in Training & Development in 1998 from Indian Society for Training & Development (ISTD), New Delhi(India).Apart from these professional degrees, he has successfully participated in various training programmes related to Educational Technology, E-learning, Quality Control (ISO 9000),Use of SPSS Package for Research data analysis.
During his 37years of Academic career he has developed his expertise in the fields of Education (Teacher Training),Distance Education (ODL System), Instructional Material Development, Training & Development (Capacity Building),Learner Evaluation & Programme Evaluation, Research in Distance Education, Quality Control (ISO-9000 for ODL System),Educational Technology ,and, Mathematics Education.
He was a Professor, College of Education, Eritrea Institute of Technology, Mai Nefhi, Asmara, Eritrea (East Africa) from 2009 to 2011. In India he has worked from 1992 to 2009 as a Reader and after that as a Professor & Director in Evaluation Division of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University at Nasik, Maharashtra (India). Prior to this, he had been serving from 1985 to 1992 as a Lecturer, in Department of Education at Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat, Gujarat (India) as well as at different institutions from 1976 to1985 under Director of Education, Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh). During 2004-05, he worked as Assistant Professor (on lien) in Department of Education, at University of Balamand, Lebanon. He has at his credit of supervising 14 Ph.D., 05 M.Phil. and 35 M.Ed. students for their Dissertations.
He has completed 15Research Projects independently on various issues related to Distance Education and, has published 07 Books, and 64 Articles based on researches and various themes related to Education and Distance Education in different journals in India and Abroad. He is first person in India for successfully completing Programme Evaluation activities being related to Quality Control and has developed a training package for Academic Counsellors as well as another training package for Ph.D. guides in the area of Distance Education and Communication.
He is a LIFE MEMBER of various PROFESSIONAL BODIES in India like (a) All India Association for Educational Technology, New Delhi. (b) All India Association for Educational Research, Bhubaneswar.(c) Council of Teacher Educators, Bhopal.(d) Indian Distance Education Association, (IDEA) Warangal. He was Vice President (2005-07) and, Secretary General (2007-09) of Indian Distance Education Association, (IDEA) in India.
He has visited West Indies, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Lebanon, Eritrea, Botswana, United Arab Emirates(UAE), Kuwait, Oman, Yemen ,Swaziland, Mozambique, Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa, in connection with Conferences and Job etc. He was associated with National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), New Delhi as Academic Facilitator as well as Nodal Officer(Exam).He was a part time Academic counsellor for PGDDE Programme of IGNOU, New Delhi.
