Mr.Mhatre was not only an civil engineer of par excellence but also a great philantrophist and was instrumental in designing number of landmark sites, public places, schools,temples.

Mr. Mhatre was very close friend of the late Shri. Tatyasaheb Shirvadkar,
the pride of Nashik.
He was the first president of Kusumagraj Pratishthan. He also, over the years served as a presidentfor the Nashik Education Society, Rotary Club of Nashik and the Sarvajanik Vachnalaya.
He was closely associated with the late Bhau Saheb Hire’s Mahatma Gandhi Vidya Mandir and Aadivasi Seva Samiti.
He was actively involved in helping the late Dr. Gupte who played a tremendous role in the betterment of Nashik, and helping many people with free medical care, with Swachcha ani Sunder Nashik meaning Clean and beautiful Nashik project.
