Do’s and Don’ts for Kumbh Mela

Do’s

  • For safety and security reasons Pilgrims should use the Ghats and bathing areas that are authorized by the administration in charge for the Mela
  • Ghats and bathing areas in proximity to the place of stay should be used by the Pilgrims
  • Immediately inform the police or the Mela administration in case of any suspicious or unidentified object
  • The regulations and traffic rules set by the traffic authorities must be followed.
  • Information and guidelines given by the police or the Mela administration must be followed to avoid any inconvenience
  • Make use of the garbage cans to throw garbage
  • Inform the Mela administration or police in case of a lost person
  • Pilgrims and travelers must dress modestly keeping in mind the religious and cultural sensibilities of the event

Don’ts

  • Encouraging the use of plastic bags
  • Washing of clothes besides the river bank
  • Overcrowding at a single place
  • Pilgrims and tourists are instructed not to encourage beggary
  • Usage of soap while bathing in the river
  • Articles used for worship or ceremonies must not be thrown in the river
