The Indian security press is a unit of security printing and minting corporation of India lmt (SPMCIL) which is wholly owned company of government of India. This is under the administrative control of general manager who is the head of department and also ex-officio controller of stamps in India. In Nashik it was established in the year 1928. It was the first printing press for bank notes in India. By 1932, this press was printing the entire spectrum of Indin currency notes.
Here items like Passport, Visas, Postage Stamps, Post cards, inland letters, envelops, non postal adhesives, court fees, fiscal and hundi stamps are printed. Indian Security Press is a very large industrial organisation and this is the only organisation in India and one of the few organisation in the world. The press is located at Nashik road in the state of Maharashtra and is 185kmts north east of Mumbai. It is located on the main line of Mumbai-Bhusawal division of the central railway. The place is connected with Mumbai by road by national highway no. 3 with Puna by national highway no. 50.
